 Dan Flatten has over 30 years of trial experience. In recent years that has included arbitration and other non-judicial dispute resolution. He has represented banks, railroads, insurance companies, trucking companies, owners of mineral interests, manufacturers, governmental entities, and individuals in negligence, product liability, contract, land title, insurance, maritime, employment, eminent domain and environmental disputes.
Mr. Flatten is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, an Advocate of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a Master in the Michelle F. Mehaffy American Inn of Court, and is listed in Best Lawyers in America and Texas Super Lawyers. He has been recognized as one of "Houston's Top Lawyers for the People" by H Texas Magazine, and in Civil Litigation Defense by the Super Lawyers, Corporate Counsel edition. He is past-president of his local bar association, past-president of the Association of Insurance Attorneys, and past-chair of the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. - Represented corrugated paper manufacturer against claims of air conditioner manufacturer arising from product quality and delivery issues.
- Represented Amtrak and Class I freight railroads in multiple wrongful death and personal injury cases arising from grade crossing collisions and employee injuries, and in eminent domain proceedings and transportation disputes.
- Represented major inland marine company in a dispute involving ownership and anchoring rights over submerged lands.
- Represented information technology company in dispute over services provided to a major multi-state bank.
- Represented individual owners of non-working interests in gas production against competing claims of ownership.
- Represented owners of oil field working interests against claims of insufficient field development.
- Represented manufacturers and oil field supply companies against claims of groundwater contamination by adjoining land owners.
- Represented employers against claims of employment discrimination.
- Represented lawyers in claims of professional negligence.
- Represented refineries and contractors in wrongful death and personal injury claims arising from accidents on refinery premises.
- Represented banks and their owners and directors against claims of breach of fiduciary duties.
