 Jim Harbison has practiced corporate and securities law for more than 30 years. He has represented public and private clients, both domestic and foreign, in hundreds of mergers and acquisitions, public securities offerings, joint ventures, and other financial transactions. His work for foreign clients has ranged from building and financing a rice mill in Saudi Arabia, to a proxy contest for control of one of Europe's largest construction companies, to oil and gas transactions in Russia and South America, to satellite and infrastructure projects in Indonesia.
Mr. Harbison represents NYSE-listed investment companies, Nasdaq-listed investment banking firms, and venture capital groups, as well as public and private clients in the transportation, manufacturing, distribution, international oil and gas, engineering, media and entertainment and healthcare industries. - Merged three privately owned financial firms to create Sanders Morris Harris Group Inc. (Nasdaq: SMHG).
- Added four portfolio companies for Equus II Incorporated (NYSE: EQS).
- Negotiated a Kazakstan oil and gas concession for Teikoku Oil Co. (Nikie stock exchange), Japex, and Japan National Oil Company.
- Combined and then sold to a large public company five medical products distributors.
- Led TransCom USA (NYSE) through bankruptcy in the US, Canada and Mexico, disposing of over 20 different operations in the three countries.
- Represented Advanced Technical Products (NYSE) in its sale to General Dynamics.
