Mr. Payne is an associate in the corporate and securities section of the firm.  His practice focuses on corporate, securities, mergers and acquisitions, governmental compliance and corporate financing transactions.  He was named a "Texas Rising Star" in surveys conducted by Texas Monthly magazine in 2007 and 2008.

Mr. Payne began his career as a commercial litigator with Fulbright & Jaworski LLP in Houston, where he represented large corporations and partnerships in lawsuits involving breach of contract, negligence and breach of fiduciary duty, among other causes of action. Mr. Payne also has experience representing real estate developers in all aspects of commercial and residential development, as well as financing, and has valuable experience with respect to the acquisition, disposition and development of improved and unimproved real estate. In representing his clients, Mr. Payne brings to bear a unique blend of corporate, real estate and litigation experiences.

• Represented business owners in obtaining a $100 million credit facility for the purchase of various limited partnerships holding gas pipeline and gathering systems.
• Represented business owners in the disposition of a $60 million gas company.
