Blake Runions is an associate in the litigation section of Porter & Hedges LLP. His practice focuses on commercial litigation.

Prior to joining Porter & Hedges LLP, Blake worked in the accounting, finance, and business assurance groups at a major international oil and gas company in Houston, where he was involved in financial reporting and merger and acquisition accounting.  Blake draws upon his finance and accounting experience to represent a wide variety of corporations, partnerships, and individuals involved in complex business disputes as both plaintiffs and defendants.  Blake has experience in both federal and state district courts and in appellate matters.

While in law school, Blake served as Notes and Comments Editor of the Houston Law Review, was a member of the Order of the Barons, and was champion of the Lorrance & Thompson Negotiation competition and the Tom Newhouse Mediation competition, and finalist in the Blakely-Butler Moot Court competition.  Additionally, he has served as an intern with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.

 

Representative Experience

Mr. Runions has participated in the Firm's representation of the following matters:

  • Preparation of appellate brief to the Texas Court of Appeals
  • Jury charge preparation in both federal and state courts
  • Representation of both plaintiffs and defendants in various contract disputes and business tort claims
  • Defense of owner of construction project in breach of contract claim
  • Defense of managing partners in breach of fiduciary duty and partnership dispute claims brought by limited partner
  • Defense of construction subcontractor in personal injury action
  • Various pro bono projects through the Houston Volunteer Lawyers program
