 Rob Reedy is a partner in the corporate and securities section of Porter & Hedges and is involved in a wide variety of corporate, securities and merger/acquisition transactions. He has been selected as a “Texas Super Lawyer” in Securities/Corporate Finance Law in surveys conducted by Texas Monthly since 2003. In 2008, Mr. Reedy was named in Super Lawyers, Corporate Counsel Edition in the area of Securities and Corporate Finance. Rob's practice focuses on public companies and emerging privately held entities that are building their business through acquisitions and financings such as public offerings and private placements. In many cases, he coordinates all of the legal work for his clients as they build their businesses, acting as an advisor and “de facto” general counsel to them in that process.
Rob's current clients include businesses involved in energy exploration, production, service and transmission, alternative energy, technology, biotech and manufacturing/distribution of a variety of products. Rob also represents several investment banking firms who specialize in public and private securities offerings for companies in all phases of the energy industry, which resulted in Porter & Hedges being ranked in the American Lawyer's Corporate Scorecard as one of the Top 25 Firms for Underwriter's Counsel in 2007. He has extensive experience in:

- Acquisition of assets from a public oil and gas company for $800 million using equity and debt financing.
- Recapitalization and subsequent sale of a publicly traded energy exploration company, including private equity offerings, Rule 144A debt offering and new credit facilities.
- Multiple public offerings and acquisitions for publicly held waste company including a $1.5 billion acquisition of an industry competitor and related debt financings.
- Multiple public offerings for energy companies involved in upstream and midstream industries.
- Representation of several investment banking firms in IPO and secondary public offerings by exploration and production and energy service companies.
- Creation of new entity to build a power plant financed by revenue bonds and private equity.
- Private placements of equity for a variety of companies, including a public oil and gas company, a Texas-based retail energy provider, an owner of a synthetic gas technology, a startup telecommunications company and a natural gas compression company.
- Formation of new midstream energy companies funded by private equity sponsors.
- IPOs, secondary offerings and private placements for several Houston-based biotechnology companies.
- Initial public offering, Nasdaq listing and private placements for a coal gasification company.
- Licensing, research and development and partnership agreements for biotechnology companies to in-license or out-license technology.
- Representation of equity sponsors in “buy and build” transactions.
- Serves as U.S. securities counsel for a number of Canadian publicly held companies.
