 Sharon Wendell is an associate in the litigation section of Porter & Hedges and works in the mass tort and commercial litigation areas of the firm. Her litigation experience includes matters of personal injury, mass tort, product liability, property, oil and gas, bankruptcy, labor law and criminal defense. Her responsibilities include case management, legal research, briefing, and drafting motions.
Ms. Wendell has been employed in various capacities at Porter & Hedges since 1999, including throughout her law school years. Prior to her employment with Porter & Hedges, Ms. Wendell worked within the legal field at first located in Houston, Texas and Cleveland, Ohio since 1983. Representative Experience Ms. Wendell works on a wide variety of litigation matters in the mass tort and commercial litigation areas of the firm assisting in the defense of several large corporations in personal injury suits involving exposures to benzene, vinyl chloride, butadiene, asbestos, including:
- Assisted in trial representation of a major chemical company in a mesothelioma premises liability case in the 58th Judicial District Court of Jefferson County, Texas. After a two week trial, the case settled during jury deliberations.
- Assisted with process to successfully strike the Travis County Standing Order as unconstitutional with regard to the mandatory method for service of process in asbestos litigation.
- Assisted in a wrongful death case involving claims of on-the-job exposure to benzene which allegedly resulted in myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), and death, Eastern District of Texas, Texarkana Division. The jury returned a verdict in favor of our client and the only defendant, a major oil corporation.
- Primary associate in a vinyl chloride exposure as alleged cause of angiosarcoma and subsequent wrongful death claims.
