"Dizzying array of M&A activity pumps the Eagle Ford shale," Houston Business Journal
Commenting on increased investment in the Eagle Ford shale play, Energy Partner Bob Thomas told the Houston Business Journal that this trend will continue.
"'They’ll either continue getting into joint ventures or outright purchases of acreages and wells from smaller companies,' said Bob Thomas, partner at Houston-based law firm Porter Hedges, which has represented companies in several acquisitions. 'It allows everyone to share the risk a little more and share capital. We’re seeing deals and ventures both upstream and midstream.'
According to attorneys, 2010 was a record year for acquisitions and divestitures. Thomas said there are fewer deals so far in 2011, but the deals that are occurring are on a larger scale, such as the July sale of Houston-based Petrohawk Energy Corp to Aussie oil major BHP Billiton for $12.1 billion."
