Porter Hedges announced today that Jeffrey R. Elkin has been appointed to serve as the Firm’s Litigation Practice Group Leader, effective February 1, 2015.
Mr. Elkin succeeds Brad Whalen who has served with distinction as Litigation Practice Group Leader since 2012 and is now a member of the firm’s Management Committee. Mr. Elkin has been an attorney at Porter Hedges for over 20 years, serving in various leadership positions including most recently as Chair of the firm’s Pro Bono Committee.
“Representing our clients in trials and arbitration proceedings is a core practice for our firm that has grown significantly in recent years. Jeff has been an integral part of the dynamic growth of this practice, and his experience will serve our clients and the firm well as he assumes leadership of the litigation group,” said Managing Partner Rob Reedy.
Mr. Elkin’s practice focuses primarily on complex commercial disputes, partnership and LLC dissolutions, federal and state securities laws, and business torts. Mr. Elkin serves as lead counsel for publicly-held corporations, private companies, individuals, lenders, investment advisors, and registered broker/dealers before federal and state district courts through out the United States and before arbitration panels of the International Chamber of Commerce, American Arbitration Association, and FINRA. He has represented clients across the oil and gas industry with particular experience in the oilfield service/drilling and reservoir engineering sectors. He has been recognized by Chambers USA in the area of General Commercial Litigation in Texas.
Mr. Elkin assumes leadership of a 50-lawyer litigation practice that covers a broad range of areas including commercial, energy, construction, intellectual property, employment, product liability, securities, antitrust, white-collar, and international arbitration. Recognized by Chambers USA among the leading litigation practices in Texas, the group is one of the largest trial-ready, full-service litigation practices in the state.
