DRI Elects Joe Cohen to the Board of Directors

At the October 2016 Annual Meeting of DRI – The Voice of the Defense Bar, the DRI Board of Directors elected Porter Hedges litigation partner Joe Cohen to serve as a national director.  The DRI is the leading organization of defense attorneys and in-house counsel. With more than 22,000 defense practitioners, DRI has served the defense bar for more than 50 years with a focus on five goals: education, justice, balance, economics and professionalism.

Mr. Cohen’s practice focuses on handling catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases arising from allegations of products liability (including pharmaceutical products), chemical and substance exposure, general negligence, and commercial litigation.  He also advises U.S. and foreign companies on privacy issues and regulations, blocking statutes, and jurisdictional challenges involved in trans-border litigation.  Mr. Cohen also provides individual representation to employees (current and former) of pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers in both civil and criminal contexts.

As a long-time member of DRI, Mr. Cohen most recently completed his service as chair of the Data Management and Security Committee.  He currently serves as a steering committee member of the Product Liability Committee, a steering committee member and seminar planning committee member of the Drug and Medical Device Committee, and a Law in Transition Committee Member.  Mr. Cohen also served as the Program Chair for the Product Liability Committee’s annual seminar in 2015.
