The Legal 500 Ranks Porter Hedges Among the Leading Firms in the Country for Oil & Gas and Construction

The Legal 500 has once again recognized Porter Hedges among the nation's leading firms in its 2019 U.S. law firm rankings. The ranking recognized the firm’s oil and gas transactions practice, oil and gas litigation practice, and the construction practice along with fourteen attorneys in those areas, including:

Energy Transactions: Oil and Gas – Bob Thomas, Randy King, Benjamin Rajabi, Jacqueline Moy, Jeremy Mouton, Ray Lees
“Porter Hedges LLP is instructed by independent exploration and production companies, oil field services and pipeline companies, and private equity investors in various transactions across the upstream, midstream and downstream sectors. The team is jointly headed in the Houston office by Robert H Thomas and Randy King, who, alongside Jeremy Mouton, acted for Noble Energy in the $1.1bn sale of its remaining Marcellus upstream assets to HG Energy II. In an ongoing highlight, a group led by Nettles is acting for an oil exploration and production company operating in the Permian Basin in a royalty dispute in which the plaintiffs are seeking to recover alleged deductions for post-production costs exceeding $3m; the case raises novel questions about pricing differentials and adjustments at the point of sale. Apache Corporation and Shell Oil Company are some other noteworthy clients.”

“Porter Hedges LLP handles construction matters in the commercial, industrial, energy and infrastructure sectors in the state of Texas. David Peden achieved a significant victory for Bilfinger in an international arbitration case centering on the construction of an iron ore processing facility; the client, as contractor, had its contract unlawfully terminated for alleged delays, and subsequently successfully awarded $30m after a two-week hearing. John Hawkins supported on this matter, and also represented HOK, the designers behind the University of Texas' facilities, in litigation with the university over alleged design flaws. Heather Hatfield was active on this matter. Amy Wolfshohl and Nick Simms are other notable names.”
