The Firm is pleased to announce the recipient of the 2024 Porter Hedges 1L Diversity Fellowship.

Morgan Mitchell is a first-year law student at the University of Houston Law Center. She graduated cum laude from Kennesaw State University with a bachelor’s degree in political science and a minor in African and African Diaspora Studies.

Morgan was selected from a competitive pool of highly-qualified applicants from law schools across the country. As a fellowship recipient, she will receive a salaried Summer Associate position for 2024 in the Firm’s Houston office and the opportunity to earn up to $25,000 in stipends throughout her participation in the program.

“We are excited to welcome Morgan to the firm as our most recent fellowship recipient,” said Hiring Partner Joe Morrel. “She embodies the qualities we seek for attorneys at our firm.”

The Porter Hedges 1L Diversity Scholarship is awarded annually to a first-year law student with a strong commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion on their campus, in the community, and during their tenure with the Firm.

“Our fellowship program solidifies our commitment to creating more equitable opportunities in the legal profession and we are honored to award it to such a deserving student,” said Joyce Soliman, Co-Managing Partner and chair of the Firm’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging Committee (DEIB).
