Joyce Soliman Receives the 2025 APIS Champion of Diversity Award
Joyce K. Soliman has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 Champion of Diversity Award from the Asian Pacific Interest Section (APIS) of the State Bar of Texas. The award recognizes an individual whose leadership in the legal profession has created lasting change in their organizations by ingraining diversity in the hiring, promotion, and retention of attorneys and establishing an inclusive work environment. Joyce received the award during the 27th Annual APIS Conference.
Joyce is the Co-Managing Partner at Porter Hedges LLP, primarily responsible for lateral partner recruitment, business development, marketing, and innovation. She was elected in October 2023 and is the first woman (also the first minority attorney) to assume this position in the firm’s 45-year history. Joyce has maintained a wide and varied finance practice for over 20 years. Her clients include domestic and foreign banks, private lenders, administrative agents, and public and private companies who are involved in secured and unsecured financings. She is active in Houston’s Asian American legal community and has held a variety of leadership roles for the Asian American Bar Association of Houston and the Asian American Bar Foundation.
Since 1995, the APIS of the State Bar of Texas has been connecting Asian and South Asian legal professionals, as well as lawyers interested in promoting issues of justice, equity, and opportunity impacting Asian and South Asian communities. APIS supports its members and local bar affiliate organizations throughout Texas by providing mentorship, networking, and professional development opportunities.
