Porter Hedges Grows Energy Transactions Practice with New Partners Michael Byrd and Shane Sullivan
Porter Hedges announced today that Michael Byrd and Shane Sullivan have joined the firm as partners in the Energy Transactions section in Houston.
Mike focuses his practice on oil and gas mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, with particular emphasis in the upstream segment of the industry. He has served as lead counsel in over 100 oil and gas M&A transactions. Mike also prepares and negotiates a wide range of upstream agreements and advises his clients on oil and gas disputes. Since 1998, he has been certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Oil, Gas and Mineral Law. He has served five times as Chair of the Oil, Gas and Mineral Law Exam Commission, which writes and grades the exam for that certification.
Shane represents energy clients in upstream and midstream acquisitions and divestitures, private equity investments, joint ventures, and similar strategic transactions. Drawing on both private practice and in-house experience, he advises clients on a variety of oil and gas matters, including purchase and sale agreements, joint exploration and development agreements, lease acquisition agreements, joint operating agreements, and production sharing agreements. In addition, Shane advises oil and gas companies on day-to-day operational issues and mineral title issues. He is also Board Certified in Oil, Gas and Mineral Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

Mike received his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law and his B.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin, both with honors. Shane received his J.D. from South Texas College of Law and his B.S. from the University of Houston-Clear Lake.
