Porter Hedges Advises ACT Energy Technologies in the $47M Acquisition of SB Directional Services Drilling Assets

Porter Hedges represented ACT Energy Technologies (“ACT”) in its agreement to acquire the oil and gas directional drilling services business of SB Directional Services (“SB”) for a stock and cash price of $47 million. The transaction is expected to close in early April 2026.

ACT expects the transaction to generate cost synergies by replacing SB's rented rotary steerable tools with its own equipment.

ACT Energy Technologies Ltd., headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, provides high-performance directional drilling services and downhole technologies to North American energy companies, delivering tailored solutions that improve drilling efficiency and reduce project costs.

Based in Oklahoma City, SB Directional Services is a directional drilling services provider with a strong operating history across the Anadarko and Permian basins.
