Porter Hedges Announces Inaugural Recipient of 1L Diversity Fellowship
The Firm is pleased to announce the inaugural recipient of the Porter Hedges 1L Diversity Fellowship.
Adriana Young is a first-year law student at the University of Houston Law Center. She graduated in three years from Howard University summa cum laude and has demonstrated a strong commitment to diversity.
Adriana was selected from a pool of highly-qualified applicants from a range of U.S. law schools. As a fellowship recipient, she will receive a salaried Summer Associate position for 2021 in the Firm’s Houston office and the opportunity to earn up to $25,000 in stipends throughout her participation in the program.
“Adriana embodies the characteristics and values that we want to see in all of our attorneys” said Hiring Partner Heather Hatfield. “We recognize the importance of building and maintaining a diverse team of lawyers, and we are excited to welcome her to the Firm as the Fellowship’s first recipient.”
The Porter Hedges 1L Diversity Scholarship is awarded annually to a first-year law student with a strong commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion on their campus, in the community, and during their tenure with the Firm.
“Porter Hedges is committed to creating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture and organization, and we remain vigilant in our efforts to develop programs and opportunities in furtherance of our mission” said Joyce Kao Soliman, chair of the Firm’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging Committee.
