Porter Hedges Announces Recipient of 2022 1L Diversity Fellowship

The Firm is pleased to announce the recipient of the 2022 Porter Hedges 1L Diversity Fellowship.

Lakshmi “Lex” Kumar is a first-year law student at Tulane University Law School in New Orleans, LA. She graduated cum laude from Boston University with a bachelor’s degree and holds two master’s degrees from the University of London and The New School in New York City. Her strong commitment to diversity is highlighted through her volunteer efforts and extensive work experience.

Lex was selected from a pool of highly-qualified applicants from a range of U.S. law schools. As a fellowship recipient, she will receive a salaried Summer Associate position for 2022 in the Firm’s Houston office and the opportunity to earn up to $25,000 in stipends throughout her participation in the program.

“We are excited to build on the 2021 launch of our Fellowship program with another accomplished law student as this year’s recipient,” said Hiring Partner Heather Hatfield. “Lex exemplifies the qualities that we look for in each person that works at Porter Hedges.”

The Porter Hedges 1L Diversity Scholarship is awarded annually to a first-year law student with a strong commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion on their campus, in the community, and during their tenure with the Firm.
