Porter Hedges is pleased to announce the election of Joyce Soliman as Co-Managing Partner - External Affairs. She succeeds Rob Reedy who has served in that role since July 2022 and prior to that, as the Firm’s sole Managing Partner since 2009. Joyce will lead the Firm alongside James Cowen who serves as Co-Managing Partner - Administrative Affairs. Rob will assume the role of Chair Emeritus.

Joyce will prioritize lateral partner recruiting, marketing and business development, innovation, strategy and growth, and will serve as the primary external spokesperson for the Firm. James will continue in the management and administration of the Firm’s internal affairs. Both will maintain active practices and continue to serve clients. This leadership transition is the culmination of an internal succession planning process which has been underway since 2019 and was announced last year when the Firm moved to a Co-Managing Partner leadership structure.

Joyce has spent her entire private practice career at Porter Hedges and held a number of leadership roles at the Firm. She currently chairs the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB) Committee and will continue to do so in her new role.

Joyce’s clients include domestic and foreign banks, private lenders, administrative agents, and public and private companies who are involved in secured and unsecured financings, such as asset-based loans, syndicated, club and single lender credit facilities, real estate loans, leasing transactions, debt workouts, and more. She received her J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School and her B.A. from Vanderbilt’s College of Arts & Sciences.

“I am excited about the opportunity to continue building on our collective achievements while at the same time taking on the new challenges of a rapidly evolving legal market,” said Soliman. “James and I have practiced law together for more than 20 years. We bring different strengths and perspectives to the managing partner role, and I am looking forward to our collaboration. Under Rob’s steady guidance, the Firm has achieved tremendous success and is well-positioned to capitalize on its many strengths.”

“Joyce and James represent the next generation of our firm. They know our people, our clients, and our culture because they have been instrumental in establishing so much of what has defined our success. I am proud of what we have accomplished and look forward to supporting them as they lead Porter Hedges into the future,” said Reedy.
