Nine lawyers from Porter Hedges have earned spots on the inaugural Houston Elite Rankings published by The Legal 500. Legal 500 US Elite highlight key lawyers operating at regional players across key business centers in the United States. The rankings recognized several Porter Hedges attorneys “who are handling work at the top of the legal market” in Houston.

The individual attorneys who were recognized include the following:

  • Joseph Cohen - Commercial Disputes
  • Stephen Lee - Energy Disputes
  • Joseph Thompson - Energy Disputes
  • Michael Byrd - Energy Transactions
  • James Cowen - Corporate and M&A
  • Joseph Morrel - Corporate and M&A
  • Kevin Poli - Corporate and M&A
  • Jeremy Mouton - Energy Transactions
  • James Thompson - Energy Transactions

The Legal 500 research team has identified lawyers carrying out high-quality, market-leading work and has produced rankings that allow clients to discover the best of the best at a regional level. The research includes interviews with top practitioners, peer feedback, and evidence of key matters worked on by the ranked attorneys during the past year.

Earlier this year, the Legal 500 ranked Porter Hedges among the leading firms in the country for Energy Transactions and Construction in 2025.
