The Legal 500 has once again recognized Porter Hedges among the nation's leading firms in its 2020 U.S. law firm rankings. The ranking recognized the firm’s oil and gas transactions practice, oil and gas litigation practice, and the construction practice, along with fourteen attorneys in those areas, including:

Energy Transactions: Oil and Gas
“Led from Houston by Robert Thomas and Randy King, Porter Hedges LLP's 'very responsive and commercial' 11-partner energy team has significant midstream and upstream transactional oil and gas expertise for public and private E&P companies, private equity firms and oilfield services companies, amongst others. In addition to M&A and joint venture-related work (which includes the sale of US shale assets), the team also receives a steady flow of day-to-day operational work, including as it relates to master services and gas storage agreements. Distressed M&A is another core area of focus and the firm is regularly active for debtors, creditors and bidders in connection with sales of oil and gas assets in the context of bankruptcy proceedings.”

One client mentions the team is “A very responsive team that delivers timely, well-reasoned and commercially practical legal advice.”

Energy Litigation: Oil and Gas
“Porter Hedges LLP is a Houston-based firm with substantial expertise in the oil and gas industry. The group fields a large team of litigators, which covers the full spectrum of oil and gas disputes including royalty claims, leasehold matters, environmental cases and exploration disputes. Eugene Nettles is a seasoned trial lawyer with extensive experience and represents a number of major energy companies. Eric Wade is also a key name to note.”

Real Estate and Construction: Construction
“The Houston-based construction practice at Porter Hedges LLP is headed by David Peden, along with Allison Snyder. It specialises in defect or delay claims, lien and bond issues, and wrongful termination litigation, with most clients active in the commercial, industrial and infrastructure sectors. Peden, alongside energy infrastructure and design specialist John Hawkins, recently achieved a significant victory for Bilfinger Westcon, Inc. in a $35m alleged wrongful termination arbitration before the International Chamber of Commerce. Snyder is currently acting as local counsel for Dresser-Rand Global Services Inc. in a $10m dispute regarding breach of contract – a case that has gone to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.”
